My life story -- the short version: Although I was born in Midwest City, OK, my parents had the good sense to move directly back to Woodward, which is where I grew up, along with two younger sisters and little brother (Kristi, Kim, and Kendall -- my parents had a thing for names that start with “K.”). After graduating from Woodward High School, I attended the University of Oklahoma where I marched in the Pride! and majored in English. I got my first degree in English while working part time and serving time in the Oklahoma National Guard. I was an 11B -Infantry- in a Security and Reconnaisance platoon in a TLAT (Tow Light Anti-Tank) batallion Company C, 2/180th. Although I joined the guard to pay for college, I left with a very good feeling about having done my patriotic duty, and I highly recomend military duty to any high school graduate who doesn’t know exactly what they want to do (which is most), or even those who are looking for a way to finance the college education. You’ll learn as much about the world in the military as anywhere else. Before you know it, my high school sweetheart, Stacy, and I were married. Of course, she had to make me look bad and actually graduate college in four years. When our first kid, Jessica, was born, I was the one who stayed home and took care of her while my better half made the commute to Children’s Hospital to pay the bills. Not too long after, we packed up and moved back home to Woodward where I finished up my teaching certificate at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Stacy is currently the head of the Occupational Therapy Department at Woodward’s hospital. While finishing my second degree, I worked for my father-in-law roofing, pouring concrete, and working on a farm -- thereby eliminating several career options for my future consideration. Before I had my teaching certificate in hand, I was putting my foot in the door of my old alma mater. The rest, as they say, is history, and I currently teach Freshman English at Woodward High School. I also sponsor the Academic Bowl Team and co-sponsor the Mock Trial Team and am a member of our Tech Team Follow THIS LINK to see my kids! |
